As I sit to write today, it is hard to believe that we have almost made it to the end of the first term. It always surprises me how quickly time disappears. On reflecting on the term, there have been many standout moments these include:
- Whole school mass- last week- the lighthouse song
- School disco-
- Swimming
- Andrew Chinn’s visit
- Loaves and fishes
- Ride to school day
Thank you to the many amazing people who form our school community. The staff work hard to ensure that our students have an opportunity to grow and flourish, the students who are exceptional and the parents who provide support to both their children and the school.
Having high expectations of children, expecting them to be their best, wear their uniform with pride, participate and show respect will help them continue to grow and be their best self.
Looking forward to Easter and the holiday break as a time to recharge and spend time with families. Holy Week is the most important week in the Church’s year. It is a time when we celebrate the life and death of Jesus. We remember his actions, reflect on the messages and recommit to living as His disciples in the world today.

ANZAC day falls at the end of the school holidays this year. We invite members of the school community to participate in the march and ceremony at the cenotaph on Tuesday 25th April. This is an important day for our community to recognise and remember the sacrifice of those who fought for us. Students would need to be dressed in the full winter uniform to represent the school. Students are invited to meet staff at the Queenstown RSL Tuesday morning at 10:30am.
St Joseph’s has achieved a BRONZE Smart food award. This recognises the schools commitment to providing a whole school approach to the health and wellbeing of students. This accreditation is valid for two years. A huge congratulations to Clare Hales, Aleisha Sullivan for their efforts.
By encouraging children to try new experiences, develop new interests and acquire new skills, the program builds bridges to employment and higher education. What may have felt remote, or out or reach, becomes achievable.
If you are interested in your child being a part of this initiative please

On the last day of Term 1 the SRC will be hosting a “No Schoolbag Day”. This idea was thought of by the SRC with hopes of shining the spotlight on the mission of Project Compassion and Caritas. “No Schoolbag Day '' will raise awareness for people who are less fortunate that may not be able to afford an education and/or school supplies.
Students are invited to bring something other than their backpack. Suggestions may include a shopping bag/plastic bag, bumbag, pillow case, small trolley, bucket, tote bag, any type of bag or carrying system that is not a backpack.
The idea for the day originated when the SRC was looking at the resources for Project Compassion. Within the resources there was a video showing the life of Laxmi. Laxmi lives in extreme poverty and campaigned for fresh water taps to be installed at her school. Students considered how they could develop and build appreciation for the opportunities and resources we consider standard here in Australia.

We would like to wish you all a Happy Easter and safe Holiday. Students return to school on Wednesday, 26th April.
