Principal's Message
The Catholic value for July is goodness.
Lots of things in our world are good. We use the word good all the time.
Good …..is a difficult word to define.
What does the Bible say about doing/being good?
It is mentioned many, many times in the Bible by a number of different authors.
Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
Galatians 6:9–10
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
The Holy Spirit make us more good by linking us with Jesus. There is a difference between doing good things and being good.
We can all do good things, however, we can’t be good all the time as we have all done wrong things. God is perfectly good.
Jesus is the Good teacher. Only God is truly good. For us to be filled with goodness we need to be like God.
We can do this by looking for ways that we can please God. By thinking about what is right and wrong. This comes from the teachings in the bible and this helps us to get closer to God.
What does the Bible say about Goodness
Read Psalm 23:6.
It says, “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life.”
I don't know about you, but I'm not always good. I don't always do the right things. This verse tells us that no matter what we do, God's goodness and unfailing love will pursue us all of our lives.
Below is a short prayer that you may like to infuse into your day, asking for God’s help in our quest to be more good, like Him
Dear God,
Help me to live your goodness and kindness each day. Remind me that my actions express who I am even more than my words. May I love as you love. Let me be good to those who wish me harm, forgive those who need forgiveness, and reach out in kindness to all I meet so they can experience the Your unconditional love.
Amen
With Kindness
