Blue Gum
In Kindergarten, we have been learning the nursery rhyme Mary Had a Little Lamb. The children decorated their lambs with white cotton balls. Nursery rhymes are important for children's learning as they support early language and communication development. The children find such joy in looking forward to the nursery rhymes each week.
Sassafras
Sassafras have been learning to write simple sentences using the letters and sounds we have learnt so far. As a class we drafted sentences to include in a class picture book, making sure to include some of our newly learnt Tricky Words. We titled the book The Fat Cat and each student contributed one page. These students are showing off a draft sentence written as a whole class.
In Religion, we have been learning about which people make up the Church. We have learnt that the Church is a building, but that it is also the people who come together to celebrate their faith. Each student in Sassafras drew a picture of one person or group of people that are part of the Church.
We have been learning about different materials and their properties in Science. Each week this term we have gathered different materials and categorised them based on their properties. We have learnt about waterproof and non-waterproof materials, translucent, transparent and opaque materials and that some materials can fall into different categories depending on which property you are focusing on. Here is a sorting activity we have completed using the different vocabulary we have learnt in Science.

Leatherwood have been learning Forces - Push & Pull in Science.
Myrtle

On Friday we went to Lyell House and sang Laika in the Sky which is a song about a dog who went into space. We drew pictures of Laika in the Sky and shared them with the residents. We would like to share them with you too.

King Billy
Throughout the second half of term two King Billy has welcomed Brooke Jones into the classroom. Brooke finishes her placement on Monday and will be sorely missed by all in King Billy. Throughout the term we have been learning about mining in Queenstown and living things in Science. We have presented to the class, conducted different experiments looking at how yeast and mould are living things.
