LEARNING SUPPORT
Quality teaching and learning support is provided by exceptional educators at St Joseph’s. The school is well resourced in terms of equipment and support personnel. St Joseph’s provides learning support services and a wide range of special needs programs. Our Student Support Coordinator works with class teachers, families and other relevant external professionals to identify, plan and implement individualised and tailored adjustments to allow students to grow and foster a love of learning, as well as celebrating their abilities and progress in all dimensions of their schooling life.
The Student Support Coordinator provides a range of learning programs and social supports, with assistance to families with access to a Counsellor and Psychologist (through referral) who can support pastoral care and wellbeing, and self regulation, and a Speech Pathologist who can provide a range of speech and language programs for our students.
St Joseph’s aims to provide an inclusive learning environment that reflects the principles of the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) and the Disability Standards for Education (2005). St Joseph’s can access funding through Catholic Education Tasmania to support students, making adjustments to provide positive learning and social experiences. Providing a meaningful and inclusive learning program, St Joseph’s caters for the intellectual, spiritual, emotional, social and physical dimensions of each student. We foster the wellbeing of all students and seek to build on each student's strengths, interests and goals.
St Joseph’s also welcomes NDIS providers into the school to support student needs and aim in collaboration with a range of professionals.
